How to close active apps on my iPhone when I'm done using them?

How do I close active apps on my iPhone when I'm done using them?

Double click home button, swipe the app up.

Hmm

Stuart is right. You double click the home button and swipe up. Unless you are on a firmware before IOS 7, then you have to double click the home button, hold on any of the icons, and then click on the red marker on the top left of each app at the bottom of your screen.

However, in my opinion, I think that you don't have to close your apps as IOS already does that for you. It doesn't exactly close your apps, but instead, it pauses the apps in the state it was in when you closed your app. This is so that the app doesn't run in the background and sap up your battery life. This is not so for apps such as music that have to run in the background to continue playing the music.

But all in all, you don't have to close the app in the multitasking box, unless… The app is frozen and you need to start it up from the beginning again.

IOS 7

1.Double click the Home button
2. When you see lots of app pages just swipe them up.
3. You can swipe up 3 apps at once by doing it with 3 fingers.

iOS 6

1. Double click Home button
2. You will see a bar below with many App icons, if you see a X above them tap the x.

  • Why does the apps in iPhone take up data without and with using them? Like I used twitter for like 20 minutes two nights ago and it went up to 80 MB and like the original MB is like 30
  • Whenever I double-tap on the home button on my iphone, it doesn't let me close apps? Usually you just double-tap the home button, the app windows come up, and you can swipe them up to close them, right? I'm not sure what happened but nothing happens when I do this now. Also I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but imessage is kind of screwed up too, because whenever I try to type something, the text box covers up the latest text. So if you know what's going on, please tell me what I need to do to fix this, Thanks!
  • My iphone screen is very dark, but if I look very close, I see the apps slightly? My iphone screen is very dark but I still see the buttons slightly, but I have to look very closely in order to. It is definitely not the brightness, because the brightness is set to 100% and its way too dark anyway. I tried restoring my phone and turning it on and off, but nothing is working. Please help. What do I do? I literally threw it out of anger and its fixed.
  • Just got my first iPhone, how do I close apps to save battery? I have always had android phones and last had the htc evo. I always had an app/widget called task killer that I would tap and it would close all my running apps. Today I got my first iPhone 4 and see there are no such apps however I know I have a ton of things running, how can I close them out/save battery?
