How to SIM unlock my iPhone 5?

I bought an iPhone 5 off a guy over the Internet. Turns out the phone wasn't unlocked as advertised and I'm now unable to contact the seller.
I've found out its locked to Orange. Orange will only unlock the phone after 6 months, £22 and also the details of the original owner, which of course I don't have.
Any other ideas on how I can unlock my iPhone 5?

- get an orange SIM

- get Orange to work with you to contact the seller.
(they really can't not unlock and not help you contact the seller)

if the phone was locked to orange, it must have been on contract
If the phone is still working, then that contact is still being paid
So Orange could contact the original owner on their 'contract phone No' and confirm that they are happy to unlock it/ release the phone.

What orange are afraid of is that the seller is a scammer also.
and once unlocked, the phone will be more difficult to trace/block once off the network (they can block in Europe and big networks but not some countries).
