How to switch to the iPhone 6?
So prior to this upcoming iPhone's release, I've always switched phones by going into the ATT store and having them do it. My question is, how do I do it if I pre-order the phone directly from Apple this time? Do I have to manually exchange SIM cards or something?

If you didn't know there will be two iPhone 6's, iPhone 6 (4.7") iPhone 6 Plus (5.5") and I'm pretty sure they will give you a Sim for AT&T I believe? Bought my iPhone directly through AT&T Store. You might buy it from Apple then you get it activated at the AT&T Store? But you should get the iPhone 6 Plus! It's better.
Yes, you will have to insert your Sim card in the new model. The simple one-step instructions are included with your new iPhone.

If you pre-ordered the iPhone from apple.com you have the option to have it shipped to your home or the store. If you ship it to your house you can take the SIM card out of your old phone using a paper clip and put it in the new one. Or you can take both phones to the Apple Store and they can transfer the SIM card, activate the phone, and transfer your data from the old to the new phone. If you have the phone shipped to the store they will transfer the service and info for you there at the time of pick-up.
