How to transfer my apps, photos, contacts, etc, from my old iphone to my new one?

I have an iphone 3G and will soon get my sisters 3Gs (she is upgrading). I want to transfer all my information from my iphone to this new one. I know that itunes is probably the easiest way, but my current iphone isn't synced to my computer and can't be as it is synced to another which has been thrown out. Can i simply put my sim card from my old iphone into the new one? Will this transfer all the information? Also, if i succeed in doing this, will this new combination of sim card and iphone 3Gs sync to my computer, which has no device synced to it?

Get icloud on your phone, its free from apple. Upload all your stuff to it and then from your sister's 3GS go into icloud and icloud will automatically transfer all the files to your phone.

Sim won't do anything, the info isn't on there. You should be able to sync to a new computer, people get new computers all the time. Backup in itunes and then the new phone will automatically be loaded with the old, use icloud as stated in the other post, or just go to your carrier store and they will sync it for you.

Yes, you can switch sims, if it will fit and is the same size…

As both phones are the same make and model just move the sim card. Your sim card holds everything on it so once you do that it will work in your new phone.

You should be syncing your phone with Itunes, as all your apps are stored in itunes online you can sync it with your new computer and clean it up at the same time. You should always keep it synced as a backup at minimum.

Just load itunes on your new computer and sign into it with your account name and password then you can sync your phone with it any time you need to.

To simply put the SIM card into the new iPhone does not work. But you can try to transfer all the contents from the old iPhone to computer first, and then sync the transferred contents to the new one.

Here are the details of transferring contents from iPhone to computer:

Maybe you can use Syncios iPhone Transfer, it supports accessing any iPod touch, iPhone or iPad to export apps, photos, music, ringtone, videos, and eBooks to your PC for backup. Transfer files from your PC to iOS devices will be also available.
With Syncios, you can freely install, uninstall or backup iPad/iPhone/iPod files.
