How to transfer my photos onto my new iPhone?

Okay, so i broke my old iPhone 4, because it wouldn't turn back on. So i sent for a new iPhone, but this one is a 4s.
I'm on contract so it came with my free texts, ect., and i put my old sim into my new iPhone, hoping that all of my photos and contacts would transfer with it, but apparently not.
My friend has done this and all of her data has transferred.
So my question is… Is there anyway i could get my photos and contacts back?

Added (1). OKAY - (nathan? Or anyone else) How can i tell if i've backed any of my data up? I have a vague memory of doing so, but how do i make sure, and if i have how do i return everything?

Bluetooth

Photos aren't saved onto SIM cards, only contacts. And that's only if you ran a backup of them to the SIM card.iPhone's have internal memory, ranging from 8GB all the way up to 64GB, where your photos, music, videos & apps are stored. Depending on how your phone is broken, will determine whether or not you can recover photos/music/videos. If your phone doesn't even turn on anymore, then I'm afraid you have lost everything, especially if you didn't run a backup of your contacts to your SIM (as stated earlier). If it's only your screen that is broken then you should plug your phone into a computer if you have one, and save all of your pics, music, and vids.

I always advise people to back up everything they have on their phones to a computer. That way, if something like what's happened to you happens, they can easily get everything back.

Unfortunately this has happened to me plenty of times. After the first time it happened, I got myself into the habit of backing every single thing up.

Hope this helps.

Copy from your backup, either itunes or icloud.

The SIM card only stores your phone account details and perhaps your contacts list ('phone numbers etc). Unless you copied your contacts onto your iphone as well as the SIM card, then you have lost them.

If you've backed your data up, you should have the drive you backed it up onto still around? You may have used itunes, so a simple matter of copying the content you've saved on itunes, back onto your new iphone.

I'd recommend you use a portable hard drive, rather than any sort of 'flash memory' card, USB stick or optical media for backup purposes. I've seen too many flash memory based 'hard drives' fail.

It may be possible to recover the data on your old iphone, but that will cost you to do and is a specialist task. It's possible Apple (amongst others) could do this, for a fee of course, so might be worth contacting their customer services and asking.

If not, then I'm afraid you've lost them. Take backups of data on your 'phone (photos etc) once a week.

I can recommend you a program to help you transfer your old iPhone photos to the new one. You can try AnyMP4 iPhone Transfer. It is very easy for you to transfer all your iPhone files to computer and then use it to transfer the files from computer to new iPhone. You can download to try the trial version, good luck to you.
