I dropped my iphone 4s in the toilet

I dropped my phone in the toilet, but it I retreived it super quick, dried it with toilet paper and it didn't seem to have anything wrong with it.
However, it wouldn't turn back on when it went to lock screen so I had to keep restarting it.
It now seems to be working without any apparent issues, but I have read everywhere that I should have turned it off and put it in rice for 2 days.
It might be late for that? I went straight to work and have had it on for 4.5 hours since.
Please let me know if I dodged the bullet or if I need to do anything!

Rice does not work. You just waste rice and allow remaining water inside the phone to continue to corrode things and leave conductive salt residues until they dry as they would have without rice.

The correct process is to remove the SIM card tray and to thoroughly shake the phone in every direction to remove as much water as you can. Then use a vacuum cleaner on every single orifice using your hands to form a tight seal between the nozzle and the phone to suck out every last bit of water. Afterwards leave the phone powered off in a warm and ventilated place to dry, and even better if you have a vacuum storage jar to keep it in and draw out the last of the moisture.

After all that, you minimise the chances of long term damage. But some parts if they get wet are irreversibly changed, and some deposits which can be left after water has dried can continue to corrode the inside of the phone whenever the atmosphere is humid, so like you get on rainy/foggy days, on hot humid days, in kitchens and bathrooms or in sweaty hands/trouser pockets.

If your phone continues to work then you've got away with it. If it starts to behave oddly then you didn't and the problem will get worse. Either way, it's a 4s and is next in line to be unsupported by Apple with further updates so it's a reminder to start planning to replace it either way.

You can now get a good used 64GB 5s reasonably cheaply and it's very nearly as good as a 6 and in some small ways better. One example is the camera it shares with the 6; hardware is identical but the firmware on the 6 ruins the potential image quality of that camera with overly aggressive image noise reduction and image sharpening. Also, by re-using the 5s camera in the thinner 6 body, the lens sticks out on the back of the 6 so is far more liable to get damaged/scratched. Another example is that the outer case is stronger and less prone to bending, and is far easier to grip due to the squared edges.

I soaked it in rice too then took it to the repair shop. He was a mirrorcale worker cleaned it out and made sure it was all dry inside. Only a professional could do it.It cost under 100 dollars and well worth it or it may rust inside.
