I dropped my iPhone 6 in a sink with running water?

I dropped my iPhone 6 in a sink with running water and it made sort of a sizzle sound, then got hot. I put it in rice 28 hours ago and no luck. Is it fried? Or is there still hope?

The rice trick is a fallacy. It only dries the outside of the phone and just ruins good rice.

Your phone is definitely fried, at the very least the battery has shorted out and been destroyed and the heat alone from that may have damaged other parts. But the water itself does also cause permanent irreversible changes to other parts and once dried out the residual salts cause ongoing internal corrosion.

In short, you can spend money trying to repair the faults which already exist, but even if it can be repaired then further faults are likely to occur.

Better to treat it as a total loss and sell it for spares or repairs. The data left on the phone is encrypted and can't be usefully recovered by anyone but play safe and use Find My iPhone to put the phone in lost mode. If anyone manages to repair it (unlikely) then the phone will wipe itself of all data.
