I found a Verizon iPhone4, Can they track it?

Okay, so I found a Verizon iPhone 4 at school and its still connected to Verizon (I can still make calls). I have already restored it to factory settings so it Doesn't have the find iphone app or doesn't have a SIM card. Can they track me somehow? And I connected my iTunes account on it and everything as if it was mine. Everything on it is mine except for the phone number…

I'm not sure, but they can report it stolen. So if you try to activate and use it as your own phone, it won't let you. Trust me dude, just return the phone. I lost my iPhone today (left it on the top of my car) and a guy called me to give it back to me. You really can't find nice people in the world like that anymore, and your question proves it. Eventually they'll turn the phone off and you won't be able to use it.

That's really messed up. How would you feel if you lost your very EXPENSIVE phone and someone decided to be an *** and keep it for themselves. They can trace a phone number. So yes they can track it! Not only that, but the owner will most likely have the phone account shut off so the phone is unusable. You took away everything in that person's phone! Pictures, contacts etc. Things they probably can't get back now. Great job! You need to be a decent human being and turn the phone in to the school office tomorrow morning! You should be calling the owners contacts, try calling their Mom, and let them know you found the phone. Connecting your account to it, how stupid!

GIVE IT BACK! TURN IT INTO THE SCHOOL OFFICE!

Change the sim card and it can't be tracked.

Dude, your brain cells must be feeling really lonely…

It's an iPhone. Which means it's integrated into iTunes and Apple's user IDs. Even if (or especially when) you restore it to factory settings, it connects to Apple every time it's able to connect to any kind of data network, no matter whether cellular or Wi-Fi. Even worse when you connect it to your iTunes account - with that act, you actually told everyone who is interested where the phone is and that you tried to cover up on purpose.

Or, to put it short and in big print so it's easy to read:

YES, "THEY" CAN TRACK IT.

  • Why can't they track the iPhones (Smartphones) of the people on missing plane? Many of them would have one and also activated locate my iPhone application. And they say your movement can be tracked on smart phones.
  • Using school Wi-Fi - can they track history? - 1 I was using the school Wi-Fi today. Is it possible for them to find out what I had searched whilst connected to my own Wi-Fi at home on my iPhone and then connect to their Wi-Fi the next day on the same phone?
  • If I turn off my Wi-Fi can they track my IP address? If I turn off the hub would this stop them tracking me. They also say they can track my phone using the IP is this true? And how can I stop it? Should I take out the SIM (it's an iPhone btw)
  • I found an iPhone 4s can the owner track it? So i found an iphone 4s and took the sim out its sprint and completely restored it and plugged it up to itunes and its all my info can they get on another iphone and go to the tracking app "wheres my iphone?" If you are going to preach to me: i don't care what moral lesson you tell me, I'm not going to return it, so don't waste your time. If they weren't 500$ then maybe i wouldn't have to steal.
