I have a business idea, what's are your thoughts?

I have a business idea which i believe could be successful but it all depends on the consumers thoughts.

How many people do you know have had their Iphone screen smashed?

How many people do you know who have taken their Iphone to the apple store to get it fixed to find it will cost them up to £160?

Well my business idea is fixing Iphone screens online. Basically what would happen is the customer would visit the website, then select which type of iPhone they would like to fixed and pay via their credit card.

The main selling point of this business is that the cost will only be £30.

Once they have paid, we will send out a delivery kit which will include a prepaid padded box which they simply place their iphone in and send away. They will receive their Iphone completely fixed within 3 days.

I have did some research and there appears to be no other companies on the market which offer this service.

Basically what i want to know is would you be willing to send away your iphone 3 days, but save up to £130?

I think that is a very good idea. Many people I know have had their screens broken however they can't be bothered to pay that much. My only question is would you only do iPhones?

I don't know of anyone who has smashed their screen but even so it would be covered by the phone insurance or house contents insurance. Does the £30 include the phone being posted both ways - with postal insurance, otherwise you may get people claiming their phones have been damaged in the post.give it a go if it won't cost you much to set up.

I would just say that in my town there are at least 3 well-established stores (chains and independent) that offer this kind of service (and that's without me even looking), and obviously no postage involved (queuing up at the post office), plus the places being well-established provide a lower perception of risk (you're an unknown entity, and there's the risk of the phone getting lost in the post). I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE THOUGH (pretty sure it's less than half £160) but I'm sure you can do some research yourself on that.

Therefore, you might find your market is very limited - first there's are only x number of iPhones, then only a small proportion get damaged AND the person wants it repaired, and then the other factors as mentioned above.

So, I would say that providing your start-up costs are low (insurance, advertising etc etc) it might be worth a bash; otherwise you might find you're disappointed.

In theory it sounds fine. But, a lot of people have insurance on their Iphone. Would having that repair done then invalidate their insurance? And could you really provide this service for just £30. Your postage and liability costs won't be cheap.

Personally I would think it is a scam. How on earth can you fix something that Apple charge £160 for- for only £30 and also pay the postage both ways in addition to an expensive padded box? Assuming that return postage costs £10 minimum, that means you will fix the phone for only £20 (inclusive of a new screen)? Sounds like a definite scam to me and you will not get any takers.
