Yes you can since MMS will just use your regular text messages. But you also want to make sure what carrier you have. For example, if you have AT&T go plan, it will cost you $.25 for sending MMS.
It should work. I don't think MMS have anything to do with data. If anything just call your phone company if you don't wan to risk an extra charge.

- IPhone 4 will not send or receive group text messages? My iPhone 4 recently decided it did not want to send or receive group text. I have reset the phone, I have MMS turned on, group messaging turned on, and it is updated to the most recent version of iOS. The weird part is that my iPad and iPod where both receiving group texts through iMessage. If I turn iMessage on on my iPhone though, it sends text from my email even it I tell it to only send and receive from my phone number. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know how to fix it?
