I think there's no way to recover it but i'm not sure
I also have the 4s and sometimes my texts delete randomaly but a second later they will come back. But i don't think you can get them back any other way.
You can't recover deleted texts. They are not backed up anywhere.

I woke up this morning and checked for a message from him and THE ENTIRE CONVO WAS GONE. I don't know what happened.
