If I block other iPhone users from calling and texting me, will they know?

I've got a 4S and was wondering if I blocked a couple people in my contacts with the same phones if they would know? What would happen if they called or texted me? Really need to know before I go ahead and do this, that way I don't get criticized for shunning them out of my life. I just can't deal with their annoying and ignorant texts anymore. Some friendships just don't last I guess and I'm too kindhearted to just tell them to downright quit texting me. Thoughts?

What will happen is that the call just won't go through so it will be like you don't have a signal or your phone is turned off. People won't know that you willingly blocked them.

Change your number and tell them you lost your phone.

They will hear a system/carrier message saying something to the effect of, "We're sorry, but this person is not accepting calls at this time." Now if they happen to call you from a # besides there's then they'll get through. I have AT&T & the carrier doesn't give their users the ability to block calls or texts from people.

Oh & the fact that they have the same phone makes no difference.

In the long run if you really dislike someone enough to block them in anyway you'll just do it and not think twice about it. If you're afraid they'll know then it's understandable, but if they're fully aware that they're getting on your nerves and then not ceasing the same kind of behaviour they're most likely anticipating you'll do it sooner or later anyway. So like I said, if you want to block them, do it and don't think about the consequences as it is your own life and as far as consequences go, it'll just be people judging you and more likely than not, it'll be judgments coming from people who like those people. In this day and age, people could honestly care less about other people so it's less likely that'll happen and the only resent you'll get is from the people you blocked.

Don't reply to their text and eventually they get hte msg.
