Short answer 'No'. It's a first world problem. Many older iPhones like 3gs and younger are still used all over the world in Arab and African countries where they are still high and can't be updated without jailbreaking. As long as you don't press the button then you don't have to. Apple still has plenty of apps on the store that run on iOS5 or 6 for that reason. My old one is my iPod now. It'll be another year or tow before you really have to make that decision. Don't worry about it. The guy in Vietnam with an iPhone 4 doesn't. Best luck.
No. You could run iOS 7.x however long you want but eventually you may run into a situation where an app you use requires iOS 8.
- Would IOS 7 download itself eventually? I have an iPhone 4 with IOS 6 on it. I can't download 7 due to not enough storage. I told my cousin this and he said "it'll just download on itself". So if it does download on itself, would my memory be wiped away? I have 524 MB left of storage and to download IOS 7, one needs 2.9 GB.

(Example: Fake gold ring would change color) I'm deciding between Gold and Silver and wouldn't wanna get Gold if it will just change to Silver eventually over using it for some time.
