If I use my iphone as a hotspot to transfer Wi-fi, does it consume my data anyway?
I have Wi-fi in my home. But my laptop has been having problems connecting to my router. My iPhone has no problems connecting to my Wi-fi.So, I've been using my iPhone as a hotspot to transfer the Wi-fi to my laptop. Does this consume my data? When I connect my laptop to the iPhone, I make sure the iPhone has the Wi-fi on and the Wi-fi icon is showing.
I think it does. I have a Samsung Mesmorized with US Cellular and I'm still able to use it as a wi-fi hotspot, but I have to be careful because it can consume my data fast and could cause me to go over. Expecially if you use it a lot. I would say just give the company your phone is set up with a call, and ask them. But I'm sure it probably does, but just to be on the safe side, try not to use do it too much, and take your laptop to a place where they give out wi-fi for free.
- What does having mobile hotspot on a shared data plan mean? I really want to get either the Samsung Galaxy S III or iPhone 5 on either AT&T or Verizon. I noticed that when you get a Mobile Share/Share Everything plan, the hotspot feature is free. Does using it still come out of your data amount, or is it unlimited?
- If Iphone 3GS cellular Data is turned on all the time, does it consume mb? I have a package of 120mb free to roam internet. If i just have it ON all the time, does it consume my MB all this time, or when i receive a Skype or Whatsapp message only it consumes the transferring KB and then stop consuming again?
- If I use personal hotspot on iPhone, will it use my Wi-Fi or data plan? There are 2 computers in my house. One of them won't connect to the router. So I figure while my iPhone has Wi-Fi access, I can turn on personal hotspot and make the computer connect to the iPhones personal hotspot
- If I keep my data on but also use Wi-Fi will it use my data? I just got an iPhone from us cellular. I use Wi-Fi to save data, but I can't receive group messages if my data isn't on. If I keep my data on all the time, but use Wi-Fi, will it use my data? And if I keep both on will it use my Wi-Fi instead of data?
