Intermittent Loss of Internet? (Two routers)?
I've been having trouble with both of the routers in my house for months now. The problem will come and go, but for the last few weeks it's been more common than any time before. I have two routers, our provider being Verizon FiOS. Both of them have an issue where between every 1 to ten minutes, usually averaging at about five, our connection will 'drop'.
It happens on every OS and every device. I'm running a 2011 iMac with bootcamped Windows 7, and Mountain Lion, as well as a 2007 and 2009 MacBook Pro. An Asus Netbook, two iPads, two iPhones, an XBox, and our TV service. All of them are affected by the problem, so I'm certain it isn't a hardware issue.
Every computer says we have full connection with the internet, either via Wireless or an ethernet cable, we've tried both on both routers. When we're watching TV and try to access the guide, we have a similar issue as the computers where it won't connect to the internet, and won't give us the schedules for TV shows, the channels, all that sort of thing.
I thought it might be an issue with the provider or the ONT, but we've had four or five technicians come in, one of the routers has been replaced three times, and no matter what gets done to the hardware nothing seems to fix it. We've tried everything bar replacing the ONT all together, but that's never really come up. I'm at my wit's end as far as fixing it myself or through Verizon is concerned, so I was hoping someone here might be able to give a bit of insight as to what's causing the problem.
Added (1). Sorry, I wasn't particularly clear. They each have their own connection, and their own respective IP addresses.
You must NEVER have more than one router on a connection. It always causes conflicts and timeoutes. It can totally stop your connection. Your ISP can totally disown any help for you if you lose connection. If you need more range you use a wireless range extender or relay. I you need more wired ports you need a network switch connected to the router and all machines connect to the switch
Your routers are the issue sometimes they get to hot then burn up your best bet get a better router cisco brand or d link the best out
- Two different computers, two different iTunes.can I use the same Apple ID? I have iTunes on my computer that I use for my iPhone, and my mon just got an iPod Touch and wants me to fill it for her. I'm going to use her computer to do this, which currently does not have iTunes. Once I download iTunes, can I use my own Apple ID to download songs and apps onto her iPod? Is it possible to do that without disturbing what's on my phone, or do I have to make a whole new iTunes account for her?
- My iPhone 6 with iOS 9 has stopped sniffing Wi-Fi routers? I'm typing this Q on my computer, on a close-by Wi-Fi connection. But my phone can't see it. What's up?
- Is turning off my routers firewall bad? I've had this problem where my Internet would constantly shut off but ever since I turned off the firewall on my router the Internet never goes off. Would it be dangerous just to keep my routers firewall off? Both my computers have there own anti virus and firewall and the only other devices I have are my iPhone, iPad, and Xbox 360
- Is there anyway I can access other people on my routers internet history? I was trying to see what sites people on my router have been on and I was just wondering if it was possible and if it goes away when they delete internet history. We have 9 things connected (laptops, iPods, iPhone's, etc) so can I look separately for each device or is it all in one.
