Iphone 3gs only picking up 3G when i travel to another district? - 1

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

When i got the phone it was jail-broken, i removed the jailbreak and continued using the phone with-out problem except not being able to pick up 3G… When i drive around 10 miles or more from my city i pick up 3G, strange and annoying!

Heres the facts

Phone was jail-broken (now removed)
2G sim upgraded to a 3G sim
phone has been flashed with latest firmware today
phone has been factory reset
network settings have also been reset
100% sure my area has 3G
only works when i drive around 10 miles away from the city
not a hardware problem
'enable 3g' is selected
phone is on 02

version 6.1.3
modem firmware 05.16.08
carrier o2 14.0

YOUR A GENIUS IF YOU KNOW THE ANSWER!

You probably have done this already but go on o2's website and use their network coverage tool. Every phone provider will vary but since you live in the city as opposed to living down low surrounded by hills of countryside.

Maybe see if a local friend has a O2 phone so you can compare.

I know my iphone sometimes has trouble with 3G and I'm on tesco which uses O2.To get mine to work, I can turn off Wi-Fi then enable and disable airplane mode. I have to add that this only works on occasion.

  • Worth picking up an Iphone 4 for $279? It's not the S model, I don't believe, but is that a good price? Or can I find something significantly better for the price? If so, please drop some names for me. Would prefer if this was an established brand - respect by both buyers and tech-savvy reviewers (Cnet.com, etc).
  • Placing a pre-order at one store, picking up at another? So I pre-ordered an iPhone at Best Buy, but I, like many others, got the annoying email about how much they care, but your phone won't be ready for up to 28 days. So, even though the store I pre-ordered the phone at is out of the one I got, there are about 4 other stores in my area who have it in stock. Would it be possible to just go to a different Best Buy to pick the phone up, or are the adamant about you sticking with the store you placed the pre-order at?
  • My iPhone isn't picking up any Wi-Fi? Last week my iPhone's Wi-Fi just stopped working. It isn't picking up any networks, not even at home. My brothers iPhones are working fine on the home network but mine isn't. Whenever I click on it, it just loads and stops - nothing else. It won't let me type the password!
  • My computer isn't picking up my iPhone on iTunes but the laptop does? Have a iPhone 5 updated iTunes to latest version, the desktop is not detecting the phone but the laptop is, they both have the same iTunes version and operating system, it works on the laptop but not desktop. It won't even charge it, I've tried a few cords all with same results.
