Iphone 3GS problem. Won't charge or turn on, complete black screen?
So I got an iPhone, stupidly, and now it won't turn on or charge or do much of anything. Won't show up in iTunes and it's been plugged in for about 10 minutes with nothing happening. I went to unlock my phone and the screen went black, it did have the Apple logo showing for a few seconds, and would then shut off, but I tried holding down both buttons and that's how I got to my present problem. Any ideas if it can be fixed or do I got myself something I can creatively destroy?
Chances are the battery monitor firmware gets out of sync with actual charge in the battery.It'll cause the phone appears to be unable to turn on, having frozen screen, charging / battery issues, etc. There's a good discussion on how to solve such kind of problem:
The discussion is for the Kindle tablets, but same step will work for iPhone / iPads. Charge it with the orgiinal charger, for a longer time too. When it doesn't have enough battery power, it'll go black screen too.

Get home, connected my sim card and everything was backed up from my previous phone and went on smoothly. Its 32 gb and I have plently of room. When I got to sync it, it goes from 'preparing to sync' to 'syncing mail accounts' and then step 3 of 6 is 'determining what apps to sync' and from there the synv just stops and I'm not sure what's wrong. The iPhone is updated.

What do I do?
