IPhone 5 charger not working? - 1

I got my phone and charger last christmas, and everything worked fine until a couple of months ago. My charger would only work 50% of the times i plugged it in to charge it, then eventually it stopped working completely. I took it in hoping to exchange it for a new on at Verizon, and long story short i had to buy a new one and my new one stopped working as well. (It isn't the white one that Apple gives you but its obviously the same cord and such).Im getting really frustrated. I know it can't be my phone because I have a few friends that have iPhone 5's and their chargers work completely fine on my phone.Am I just getting faulty chargers? I don't want to keep buying $30 chargers.

You must put the charger safely.

I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that "accessories" from your original iPhone from Verizon should have been covered under the Apple manufacturers warranty for 12 months.

Sometimes retailers solve the problem a.s.a.p. Because the customer is wanting an immediate solution, like right now. Yet many 'manufacturers warranties' (Apple) require the retailer and you to send/ship in the defective item, so they can test it and determine if it is not working because of (1) a manufacturing defect, (2) or an 'accident' that the user caused. If number (1) is the case then they normally replace the item, but you have to wait for all the shipping etc.

Now that you have 2 chargers: I would look up the details on the Apple Accessories Warranty to see how that works. You may be able to send the original (Apple) charger into Apple, with a copy of the receipt (proof of purchase date) and get a new Apple Charger. If that does happen, then you could drive back into Verizon with your proof (copies of Apple replacement documents and new charger) and tell Verizon to refund the $30 for the non-brand name charger they sold you. I would expect talking to a Store Manager at Verizon might be able to authorize this, a Sales Rep not so much. Yet, it's a ton more work for the consumer, yet Manufacturers normally cover items for 1 year. The difficult part is they normally require a person to ship the product to them to inspect it etc…

Go to apple store to make sure if the charge fine or not. If not, your charger must be replaced.

Get another APPLE lightning cable from Apple. If yours doesn't work you can exchange it for free if they test it and it doesn't work.

I'm wary of those 3rd party charger cables, they can bend the pins inside and that to Apple counts as physical damage akin to cracking the screen or liquid exposure. And they are of lesser quality

If other peoples cords work but yours doesn't that does fall under Apple's 1 year warranty which you still have since it hasn't been a year. You can go to an Apple retail store or call Apple's number (1-800-692-7753) and say the cable doesn't work and that you have tried your friends cables and those work but yours does not. They will ship you a new lightning cable for free although they will want the one the phone came with back and place a credit card hold until they get it.

Edit: If you do this through Apple you don't need a receipt. As long as they have the serial number of the phone they can check its purchase date.

You should replace the battery and always charge it when it is completely finished. Charging daily or before complete finishing of the battery charge it will reduce the life time of battery.
