Iphone 5 failing to read sim - am i doing anything wrong?

A week ago a bought an iphone 5 from cex - bought sim of ebay i failed to put it in the slot properly and it dropped into the sim slot, it was a pain to get out but managed to get it out with a bent paperclip however the sim looked unusable no surprise that i could not get it to work in the phone then i thought
so acquired another sim from 02 put it in the phone properly this time however message on phone is still saying no sim inserted in phone, do you think i damaged the sim slot sticking a paperclip in it or am i doing something wrong.

going to take it back tommorow see what they say but thought id ask if there's any advice on here first

You need a micro SIM card. I would recommend going to an expert.

Don't force it in any more. Let a tech remove the cover glass and extract the tiny bit of plastic sim card sleeve you have broken off inside. Same thing happened once to me.

You have probably damaged the SIM slot in the phone by poking around in it with a paper clip ESPECIALLY if the SIM you dragged out was unusable.

You also need to realise your warranty does not cover user abuse so if it needs repairing it WILL cost you.

I can't hear the normal BEEP BEEP you hear when the call is connecting and dialing. All I hear is silence. Then the call just ends without going to voicemail. How do I fix this? This is really urgent.
