Iphone 5 keeps saying sim required?
I bought this iPhone 5 on craigslist. The person didn't tell me what carrier it was and the phone also had a icloud account logged on but i was stil able to use it i also but my sim in i tested and i listened to voice mail (so it worked) then i did a hard reset to the phone and after i but language country and Wi-Fi it stops there and the screen says "SIM REQUIRED. Please insert a sim. And when i but my t-mobile sim in its says ""

so am guessing i have to get a sim that's diffrent something like virizon or sprint?
You'd have to look up the model number to figure out what carrier it is. I have no idea why you bought an iPhone 5 without asking something like that first.
You'd have to look up the IMEI which on the iPhone 5 is on the back of the case near the bottom and use a site like this: http://iphoneimei.info/

- Is a sim card required to restore iphone? I bought a factory unlocked iphone and it was only on ios 4 so I went to restore it to ios 6 and now I can't restore it. It just says "no sim card installed" and if I try to restore it in itunes I get a 3194 error.So, do I have to have a sim card in the phone to be able to restore it?
