Iphone data usage is too high?

I had a samsung galaxy s3 before this phone and I had a 500mb allowance per month. I never got over the limit nor did I use it all up before the end of the month. Now I have an iphone 5c because my parents and my friends convinced me to get it and I have 2gb allowance per month. This phone uses about 200mb every day, and all I do on my data is listen to music on spotify for about an hour a day (30 mins to and 30 mins from school), go on fb for like 10-15 mins when I'm on the bus to school and on Sunday listen to music with data because I go out. But that's also only a 40 mins total. How come the data usage is so high? I'm really unhappy and trying to find a way to switch to samsung but I'll probably have to wait until the end of the contract. What can I do to lower the usage?

It's high because you're allowing background processes to access data and run continuously.

Go into your phone's settings and disable notifications for any apps that don't need them, or uninstall the apps altogether.

Spotify is going to use a fair amount of your data limit though. An hour of music at 320 kbps will equate to roughly 115-ish MB of data usage.

Your data usage depends on how you use the phone, not on the brand of phone. On the iPhone, open the Settings app, and look under Cellular to see your data usage. The amount of data used by each app is shown on a list.

  • Why is the data usage on my iPhone so high? I can't figure out what I'm doing that is causing it to be so high. I've compared to family members who seem to use the same if not more than I do. I frequently make sure I have Wi-Fi on hoping this'll reduce it?
  • Why is my email usage so high on my iPhone 4? My iPhone email is using a LOT of my data. For example, I just switched to T-Mobile and after 1 day my usage is 120 MB with 106 of that being mail. I even have it set to not load images automatically and it is still very high. Any ideas? I do have 4 email accounts on it. WIth about 2 hours left in the day I've gotten 55 emails today.
  • Why is my data usage so high after switching to At&T? When I had my iPhone 4 with Verizon, I used roughly 300MB of data per month. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 5 and switched to AT&T. Yesterday, at the end of the FIRST DAY of the billing cycle, I checked my data usage --- 500MB! I was barely on the phone at all yesterday. I probably checked Facebook 3-4 times and refreshed my twitter feed a couple times as well. I get about 50 e-mails per day. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
  • Under settings on my iPhone, does the data usage include Wi-Fi usage? Because its stating a ridiculous amount and I've had my data off… And my Wi-Fi on. Does the total of data include the amount of Internet I'm using when on Wi-Fi? I'm so confused
