Is IMessage free even when I don't have Wi-Fi?
I know iMessage is only for apple products so me and my boy friend both have iPhones but the problem is were in a long distance relationship and he lives in a different country. So if I just have 3G is iMessage still free? Or not?
IMessage itself is free, but you may have to pay for 3G (since you still need to connect to the internet to send the message). If you already have 3G then using iMessage won't cost you anymore

No it is not. When not using Wi-Fi you would be using 3G/4G which is part of your data plan which you are charged for using.
Yes is free anywhere you use it, even internationally. Obviously you need a phone plan to use celltowers though if you don't have Wi-Fi, but no charge for messages.
