Is it possible to unlock an English iPhone to put in an Irish sim?
My aunt has the iPhone 4 and she'll give it to me for free (of course!). But how much would it cost to unlock the phone in England? Everything's cheaper there!

If your aunt bought it sim-free, it's already unlocked and you can use any sim you like.
If your aunt bought it on a contract, it's illegal to unlock it until the contract expires. When it does, the firm who supplied it will unlock it for free.
Once any phone is unlocked, it is fully unlocked and any SIM will work in it.
Usual cost is 15 pounds or so.
but to keep the warrenty, do it legitimately through the original network it was attached to (not any agent or re-seller)
If it is still on the minimum contract period or a PAYG they may not unlock it until 12 months after purchase, or the end of the contract minimum period - depends the nertworks rules.
You can get the servivce provider to factory unlock it.
