Is it practical to us an Iphone 5S as a work computer?

Is it practical to use an Iphone 5s as a work computer? I was thinking of putting an app that is compatible with MS Office (any suggestions? There are a few) and hooking up a larger screen using a Lightning Digital AV Adapter and using a Bluetooth connected keyboard. The phone would still serve as a mouse. I could store my work in the cloud, eliminating the need for a large drive, I have a 16 gig phone. I'm thinking this should be adequate for what I do. I work for a company that gives us PC's and an Iphone. I have a personal MacBook and really prefer it over my work PC and I was hoping to accomplish the ability to use a mac OS by utilizing my Iphone this way, is this possible and/or practical?

Every time I have an issue with a PC I think about this, I just would like some input before I proceed with buying the necessary hardware.

You're trying to make a tablet when tablets already exist.

And no, it's not practical to use an iPhone as a work computer. It's good for small tasks, but not doing any real work on.

I work at a publication dedicated to mobile tech, and I can firmly say the answer is no. A smartphone like an iPhone is an accessory that allows you to perform some core tasks, but can't fully replace your computer. There are certain types of files you won't be able to access, your limiting yourself to the short battery life, typing anything substantial will be agonizing, and the list continues.

Keep a desktop or laptop around.

No. IPhone and iPad use the a different operating system than a regular Mac computer.

I would not recommend using a iPhone or iPad at all for work purposes.

  • Why won't my iPhone earbuds work on my iPhone but work fine on a computer? So I have the worst luck with earbuds and it happens to be reoccurring. I have a normal iPhone 5 and I enjoy music but when I listen to my songs only one earbud will work while the other one is dead. I can go on my computer and they will both work so I was wondering why they both won't work on my phone?
  • MENSA member, CS degree from Notre Dame - how practical to make a successful iPhone App? So I'm learning Swift hoping to make iPhone apps and I mention my creds to show that the intellectual barriers of programming is not a problem my question is, how successful can you be on the app store? For instance, say I had a moderately good idea for an app and created it - could I expect to make, say 1,000 or 2,000 dollars per month from it? How many people make at least 1000 per month with their app(s)?
  • Is it practical to buy Iphone 5 or just wait for the release of the latest Iphone? I have been using Samsung Galaxy 3 and have decided to try apple products as they say it's much durable than what I have now. I just don't know if I should try Iphone 5 now or just simply wait for the release of the next Apple phone product maybe before the year ends or early next year.
  • If i sync my iPhone to my computer will it take my photos off my phone and put them on the computer? I need to have my phone synced for the app zedge but i don't want my photos to be taken off my phone. There's this bar and on it it says photos, app, ect. And next to it is a little button that says sync. So IIm guessing it will take my photos. But i don't want that to happen but i need to sync my phone. Is there anyway i can do it without having my pictures going on to the computer?
