Is it worth buying a camera if i have a iphone 4s?

I'm thinking about bying a camera, but i don't know if if would be worth the money. I'm not going to be a professionel or anything, just to take pictures of my family and friends.

YOUR IPHONE HAS A CAMERA ALREADY FFS

If you are taking 20+ pictures in varying conditions a day then better buy a camera. Cameras allow you to take better pictures. Get one with at least 10x optical zoom.

An iphone camera will take reasonable photos within limits (it doesn't zoom, for example).

If you're happy with what it does then you're ok. If you find that the phone doesn't do all you want, or you can't take photos in certain situations you may want to get a camera. But it's also more to carry around, more to get lost/stolen or broken (cameras aren't as resilient as phones), another charger… Etc

All in all it may not be worth it, but only you know what you do and what you may need.

Iphone 4S takes decent photos.
For everyday use it's easier to use iphone to take photos instead of digital camera.
But if you are going on a trip somewhere I would recommend an actual digital camera for better quality photos, especially if you want to print your photos.

Probobly not if your thinking of a point-and-shoot camera, but if your thinking of a DSLR, then definitely. It just depends on what your taking pictures of. If its just going to be used for selfies, then stick with your phone, but if you want to take some professional looking photos in hi-def, then go with a DSLR.

The day you take a great picture and you try make an enlargement, will be the day that you wished you had a nice camera. Absent a budget, let me recommend a "bridge" camera. A bridge camera like the Pentax X5 @ $227.00 retail and most places sell @ $199.00 With this type camera you will be ready for any occasion that presents itself. By that I mean you will be able to bring distant scenes in close, do to the camera's long (lots of magnification) zoom lens. You will be able to take close ups of small objects like flowers and coins, you will be able to do wide angle interiors, or scenics. You will be able to do head & shoulder portraits. Is your phone clear to hear and talk? That is what it was made for. BUT if you are involved with a "fender-bender" or seeing a grand baby for the first time and no camera the "camera-phone" is certainly better than nothing!

I think if you move to a quality bridge camera then it would be worth the investment.

A bridge camera is great for everyday photography.

Your best bet will probably be one of the fine Fujifilm Finepix bridge cameras you can buy for under $200.
Make sure it's one that has a view finder that you can look through.

Not for family snaps and busy holiday photos. If a baby comes onto the scene then yes it is worth getting a DSLR.

If i was going to buy a camera then I would trade it in and get 5S, which has an incredible camera and video.

If you are satisfied with the results you get with the iPhone then why bother? Use the money for a nice dinner instead. Otherwise, know beforehand that getting a digital camera won't change the way your pictures will look like. More or less, they would be the same as the one from your phone, only a bit clearer, larger and print slightly better. Picture quality depends mostly on user skill. The camera is only a tool.

  • Which camera is better: An old General Imaging x500 Digital Camera or an iPhone 7 front camera? It looks like an iPhone only offers 7 MP while this camera boasts 16 MP but this camera is so old and looks worse at least on its own screen. I'm confused
  • Is the iPhone 5s still worth buying or would I wait for the iPhone 6? So I've been iPhone 4 for about a year now and I decided to have an upgrade because it's running so slow on iOS 7:c I'm wondering if the 5s is still new and up to date because the iPhone 6 is coming up and Apple usually buries their older iPhones when two years go by. Like is it worth getting the 5s rather than waiting on the 6 and is it still up to date with technology right now
  • Is iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s still worth buying? I heard that Apple will cut the support to iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and 5c it's that true? Does that mean that if I buy iPhone older models then I can no longer download apps from Apple app store? I would still like to buy it over newer iPhones because how cheap they are now and I haven't had iPhone experience before?
  • Is buying a DSLR camera worth it? So I have an iPhone SE and the camera is pretty good. I was looking to purchase a Canon T5 camera to take pictures and record video with, but I don't know if it is worth it. Most things I read show how iPhones are pretty equal to DSLRs.
