Is it worth it to jailbreak an iPhone 4?

I have an 8gb iPhone 4 that I've had since January. I'm really wanting to jailbreak it so the phone can have way more options and really be able to go past the iOS barriers.
However, I'm extremely worried about the phone messing up since sometimes jail breaking can cause it to just stop working. A friend of mine's phone went black for 3+ weeks when she tried to jailbreak it.
Is it worth it? Also, if I mess up and get the black screen or something, can I just restore it to factory settings and everything go back to normal? Or will it completely be broken?
I really don't want to mess up my iPhone since I won't be able to get another one quite some time if I do.
So, is it worth it?

Yeah it's worth it because you will be with out a phone if you don't just don't miss up

Nope it's not for me. I used to love jailbreaking, the features are just awesome. Since the jailbreak, my apps freezes and crashes a lot. I didn't know why, until I restored it and everything works smoothly. That's with a 32gb iPod touch 4th generation. 32gb should allow lots of memory to make it less glitchy… With your 8gb it'll probably crash and slow down even more.

try it if you don't believe me. The worst thing that can happen is you have to restore or force restore it.

Jailbreaking is legal and safe for your iPhone. Use something like RedSn0w, and you probably won't have any problems. Yes, if you restore to factory settings it will be fine.

Jailbreaking may slow down your speed and data.

Yes it worth it to get those free apps.
