Is my iPhone safe to use in the condition its in?

I unfortunately dropped my phone by accident which left it with some pretty nasty scratches on the area outside of my screen. This area of the phone being where on one side you have the SIM card tray, and the other side where you have the mute switch and the volume controls. They are pretty rough scratches which makes me wonder if it would be safe to use my phone without repairing it. I don't want to hurt my hand when I'm using it, but equally I don't want to be paying to repair my phone if it is unnecessary to do so. Could anyone help me with this matter please as I'm really not sure what to do.

You will be fine to use it as long as it works fine.

If your contract is up, then I would trade it in and upgrade to a newer version as they take trade-ins even if damaged, so at least you get something back for it. (Or use it until the contract is up).
Thats better then putting money into fixing an older or broken version.

Unless a flange of metal to cut your finger or clothing, should be fine as long as it functions like it did before.
