Is the Pope accurate in saying our society worships money over God?

It is obvious. People are putting worldly things before Jesus and other people. They worship money, celebrities, things, IPhones and other products but ignore the needs of others. We have put things before people, family, and decency, and value money over life. Our society is built on consumption which is not what God intended. I like this new Pope, he lives the life Jesus would live.

Yes. Certain political figures who fight for the interests of the wealthy elite have deliberately confused the morality of Jesus Christ with a commitment to free market capitalism in order to brainwash people into putting financial interests ahead of moral ones.

Without money he'd have no way to spread his message, no resources to give, no airliners to help nuns travel to third world countries, no medicine, etc…

I think the pope is accurate with this saying. There's a price for everything. For most people, the right amount of money can get them to do anything. Not all people are like that but i can name at least 50 that are. Some people say that money can't buy happiness but for some people it can. We all know that big money runs our nation. Yes, the Pope is right, money and the accumulation of wealth are priority to a lot of people. Those less fortunate are ridiculed and mocked. Jesus was not materialistic and helped the weary and down trodden.
