Is this a good opening statement for a college application essay?

My Opening statement is:
I have more news apps on my iPhone than social media.

The question is this:

If you were to choose one question or problem to investigate during your undergraduate years at George Mason, what would it be? Why are you interested in the topic, what research do you wish to conduct during your studies concerning this, and what do you hope to gain from your inquiry?

I want to explain that I'm a politics nerd and that I've always been intrigued by different cultures and governments.

It's not really strong, is it? You're writing to an audience of older professional people. We don't give a flying about social media apps and we generally read a paper that's made out of paper. What it says to me is "hi, I'm an IT geek who wants to impress you with the number of apps I have on my special Apple phone". Sorry, but I'd try again and I'd go down a very different path.

  • What should be my title for my persuasive essay? My persuasive essay is about why I think I should have my iPhone activated and reasons why my parents may disagree. My teacher wants are titles to relate to the topic but not to shoutout that I want my iPhone to be activated.
  • What's a good essay for the Patriot's Pen Essay? My name's Michaela and I'm 13 years old in 7th grade. I usually wouldn't be worried about these type of essay's but, I found out you can win money on them. And I really, really need the money. I'm saving up for the iPhone 4s. The essay's topic is "What I Would Tell America's Founding Fathers".it needs to have 300-400 words! Please anyone who is willing to help, please do. It would mean a lot to me. Thank's.
  • What is a good title for my Essay? Well I'm writing a persuasive essay on the fact that humans are getting too dependent on technology. Some things I write about in the essay are iphone addiction and also humans are getting less intelligent because of the reliance on technology. What would be a good, creative title? I like something short and gets the point across.
  • What are some good persuasive essay topics about technology? I'm writing a persuasive essay for my college English class and I want to do it about technology, well something in that broad category. I'm really techy and love computers, video games, etc… I was thinking something like "are video games bad for you?" or "is the iPhone really the best smartphone?" or "Which is better: Windows or Mac?" Just looking for some advice.
