My iPhone 3GS won't turn on?

SO, about an hour or so ago my iPhone 3GS went out of battery and died on me. Every time I plug it in to my laptop, it decides to start to turn on which I thought was good, up until the Apple logo went off the screen after 15-20 seconds. After the logo went off the screen, it came back on for the same amount of time, then off, on, off and then went to the red battery sign saying that it's plugged in to a power source.So, what the hell do I do?

Reset it by holding the home and on/off button

It sounds like you've jailbroken your device and used a tethered version.

The tethered verison means that each time you reboot (or run out of battery) you need to plug it into your computer and use the same software that you jailbroke with.

You won't lose any data, just launch the software and 'boot tethered'
