My iPhone 5s died and now it won't turn back on?

I was at a football game and my phone died so when I got back home I plugged it into the charger. After plugging it into my charger it turned on to the normal white screen with a black apple. I left it like that for about 45 minutes before trying to turn it on and it stayed like that. I then held the home button and the lock button which turned it into a blank black screen. So weather I turn it on or plug it in it just stays on that screen. The football game I was at was really rainy so I put it in a bag of rice just incase but the same thing is happening. And I don't want to restore it unless I actually HAVE to.

Sounds like the battery went out? I would take it to apple store, its cheap to get a new battery put in and would be like brand new again. If your contract is up I would just trade it in and get 6.
