Probably over heated i have an ipod that did that
If you have a case on it take that off and leave it near like a cold object for like 15-30 minutes depending on how hot it was
Then try to turn it on using the power button
If that didn't work take it to like a us cellular, verison, tmobile, sprint, ect
Or where ever you got it from and they should be able to help you
I've herd that the iphone 4 is overheating on a lot of people

I would reset it by holding the sleep and home button at the same time for 10sec.
Let it cool off, take any case off, and try again.
