My iPhone's screen won't work, but everything else works. Will replacing the screen fix it?

I have an iPhone 4 and one day the screen stopped working. Everything else works. Like, if someone calls me, I still get the call and the ring tone. But the screen is black, always. I can still pick up the call if I can guess where to swipe my finger for the button, but I can't see anything on the screen.
I've had a lot of friends who's screens cracked and they just replaced the screens themselves. Will replacing my phone screen fix the problem?

Also, I have a friend who said this problem happened to her and apparently the screen's bulb shorted out or something, if that info helps. Thanks in advance!

Added (1). Also! I have tried to turn off it off, and also resetting the phone. It didn't work. I also didn't want to take it to the Apple store because there isn't one near me and because of the cost, so I figured I'd try to do it myself.

Yeah it's probably just a dead LED thing… You can get the screen replaced at an Apple Store, a mall kiosk or even do it yourself. It's a lot cheaper to buy the "kit" and read the simple instructions VS paying Apple or the mall guy to do it and it literally takes less than 15 minutes to do. I recommend checking out Amazon for the best prices and also for the most legit sellers. EBay is fine sometimes but in reality, all of it is knock off stuff for the most part. I can tell give you instructions on here on how to replace it yourself because it's pretty simple but it's lengthy…

Your LED light went out its really easy and cheap to get it fixed again. Leds go out on their own over time, Nothing you did. You can buy a kit for it and D.I.Y or take it to a shop to get repaired. This happened to me and I took it to my local Sprint store (easier and cheaper then apple) $35 dollars and an hour later my phone was fine, I didn't ask a question, got told my led went out, gave them cash and was on my way home with a perfect phone. You could take it to apple but of course there pricey with everything /: Mine is also far away from my house. Just take it to a local phone store and they will fix it.
