Once my at&t iphone is unlocked, what do I do next to make it work on tmobile?
I already has a family plan with tmobile. Do I just but a micro sim card and it'll work? Also how do I put the sim card into the phone? I think there's one already in there from when I had att.
T-Mobile will sell you a sim that will fit. You just take the old one out and put the new one in.
Before you do this, however, you need to know that you will NOT get the full benefits of the iPhone on T-Mobile's network. You will be able to make and take calls, send and receive texts and use the very slow 2G/EDGE data services. You will NOT be able to receive data via T-Mobile's 3G/4G network, because the iPhone's hardware can't use T-Mobile's HSPA+ data channels.
You just get the micro sim and put it in the iPhone. There's a little hole that you need to push something in to pop the SIM tray out on the right side of the iPhone. Then you just put the T-Mobile SIM in.
Best thing I would recommend is simply go to http://ifactoryunlockiphones.com and then go to HOW TO UNLOCK and check if your IMEI is AT&T USA or a non USA ATT. If it is USA ATT their IMEI checker will tell you so and then buy the unlock… Best $25 I ever spent. I got my iPhone unlocked 1 iphone unlocked in less than 1 hour and the other took about 3. Anywho after that it was all a cake walk. One of my phones didn't pick up TM automatically so I went into Settings and Changed the carrier and oh for the MMS to work you just open Safari and visit http://www.unlockit.co.nz/mobilesettings/ (on the phone) and it will automatically update the APN settings for the network.
Yep, you need to put an activated t-mobile SIM card in to your AT&T phone. You need to replace the old AT&T SIM, then replace it with your T-Mobile SIM. The SIM can be found under the battery on most phones.

I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
