Paypal refund? Is it my fault?
Ok i had a broken iphone 5 up for bidding on ebay but a man wrote to me offering me £220 if i ended it then and sent him an invoice on paypal i needed the money for a new phone as soon as possible so i accepted and ended the listing. I sent the phone out the next day after the funds cleared in to my bank. I can't find the recipt anywhere… How much trouble am i in? I spent the money on a new phone and i don't believe the guy when he said he said he didn't receive it i don't have the money for a refund… Help?

Your money is gone and your phone is gone. Fail to refund and PayPal will attempt to take it back themselves. Block them and they will turn it over to a collection agency that will hound you day and night and add on their fees too.
You made two mistakes - you did the transaction outside of eBay which means you don't have their protection for exactly this type of problem, and when you sent the iPhone you apparently didn't use a shipping method that let you prove it was delivered (or you did, but lost the paperwork).
Right now it's hard to know if you are in trouble or not. If he actually got the phone and is lying, I don't think he will fight too hard to get the refund. But if he is telling the truth, he would have to go to the police or try to sue you - and if he did that, he could prove he sent you the money, but you wouldn't be able to prove you sent him the phone.
I guess you should just ignore him for now - and try to find that receipt!
If you did not ship it with a proof of delivery option, then you are out of luck. You will eventually be required to refund the money, once PayPal determines the typical amount of time has passed for it to be assumed lost in the mail.
Sorry, but sometimes our life lessons come with a bit of a price tag. No sense in beating yourself up about it as it is a common mistake of first-time sellers to not insure and document the delivery. It is so cheap to do and so useful in these circumstances. I'm certain you will remember this the next time you sell something.
