Policies regarding employing own children?

From what understand my father is a manager of the IT department of a smallish business. It came up in conversation if he'd be able to employ me into the company, but he wasn't sure if it would be against some sort of company policy.

I was wondering what the policies are in relation to employing your own children. To reliterate, he is not the man in charge of the entire company - just the IT department. Would I need an interview like everybody else? Would he be able to take me on as a sort of apprentice? Help would be appreciated.

Apologies if this is horribly written and/or is full of spelling errors. I'm writing this on my iPhone.

Each company sets their own policies, so he would have to ask his boss or the owner since it is a small company.

If you or your father want to know what the company policy is ask the EMPLOYER…
no one here can tell you what his employer's policy is on nepotism.

MOST companies do NOT allow family members to work together if one is a subordinate of the other.

It depends on the company policies. Don't listen to Melt, this is called legal discrimination, just like its legal to discriminate against someone with a bachelors instead of a masters degree.

Yes. Otherwise he's discriminating. Plus everyone will despise you and you will hate your job.

  • With major tech companies, how detailed of road maps do they have regarding future products? Such as Google or Apple. With the road maps that they keep a secret, how far out do they usually make their decisions on what to include in products. Such as, do you think Apple already has a very good idea of what the specs will be of the iPhone that's announced in September of next year or even the following year?
  • Which is more accurate regarding the details of an iphone, iphoneimei.info or imei.info? When I look up the IMEI of my broken iphone 5s on iphoneimei.info it says it's 16gb and when I look it up on imei.info it says it's 32gb… Which site is more accurate? The iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not power on unless connected and it won't tell me the storage capacity in itunes.
  • Regarding Whatsapp on iPhones? I have a question. When you add a friend's phone number to your contacts and you both have whatsapp, does your friend get a notification from Whatsapp saying that you joined or are on Whatsapp? Let me know.
  • Regarding a cousin and an iPhone 6 (Please see details)? Well I have a cousin in US (I live in India). She is one year older than me. Both of us get good grades and stuff. But recently, my cousin got an iPhone 6 for her birthday. But my parents bought me clothes. Which I didn't even care about. I'm using a Samsung Rex 70 for calls and stuff. I'm feeling weird. Should I flat out tell my parents or what?
