When you reported as stolen, the carrier shuts off the phone. Plus it's electronic serial number IMEI will be blacklisted as stolen merchandise and never turned back on in the US again-ever. It's an iPod paperweight that will end up sold overseas in a third world country. Yes. Useless to him. Nothing else for you to do but enjoy the new phone now.
