Restoring iPhone/iCloud

Yesterday I dropped my iPhone 5, the screen cracked (badly) and the display went black but I could still hear Siri so I knew it was still working but the display had gone. Last night I was trying to look up answers and playing around with it a bit hoping to bring it back to life. One of the suggestions was to hold the power button and home button together, but that only ended up turning my phone off completely (I can no longer hear Siri or turn the phone on at all).

When I plug the iPhone into the computer, iTunes shows up and does recognise that my iPhone is plugged in which I'm taking as a good sign. It also vibrates twice every 5 seconds and gets very warm. However, it does say it has trouble reading the contents of the phone and suggests I do a restore. When I choose this option in iTunes, I'm told;

'Find My iPhone must be turned off before the iPhone can be restored. Go to iCloud settings on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone,'

Obviously can't do that. On further research I found you can do it online by logging into iCloud. When I try to log in it says;

'Your Apple ID must be used to set up iCloud on an iOS device before you can use iCloud.com'.

Again, I can't do this. I'm confused. Can I basically not restore my iPhone then? I don't even know if restoring it would help. I'm not sure how serious the problem is yet.

I'm taking it to the repair shop tomorrow but no clue whether it can be restored or not.

You're stuck. This will require a trip to an Apple retail store but they will simply replace the phone costing you $270 unless you have applecare.

Actually i think If you want you can do everything. Actually ipone is very popular and important for all if you want. You will have control about this matter. As result you must success in you life day by day.

  • Restoring stuff from icloud Ok so I have an 8GB iPhone 4S and often I run out of space on my phone. I have used icloud but I don't have any money to buy more icloud storage. So instead I backed up my phone to my computer thru itunes. My question is, now that i have backed it up, can i delete all my photos and videos off of my phone and start over. Then if I back it up again will I be able to restore from both back ups? I know this is confusing but this whole back situation is really confusing to me.
  • Restoring my iPhone from iCloud? I'd like to know how to restore my iPhone from iCloud. It's activated already and I can't erase all my settings and go through set up again because I don't have a sim anymore. How can I restore it?
  • Restoring iphone information not using icloud? I recently broke my iphone 4s (kept up to date in software). I don't believe I ticked the icloud option on. However, my phone did make backups to itunes whenever I charge it. If I get a new phone, what information will carry over to my new phone? (Trying to keep as much as I can) Someone also told me that if I could log into the app store that my information and contacts have already been stored to the cloud, wondering if that's true?
  • Old iphone Icloud lock still enabled after I buy a new iPhone with icloud on it? If I had my iPhone stolen with icloud lock on and I was tracking it. But I buy a new one and activate the icloud and tracker, does that mean the old iPhone is unlocked? What happens to it? Will I be notified if someone turns it on? Can I track it?
