Spinning Circle on the Upper Left Hand Side of my Iphone?

I plugged my iPhone into a my computer and now there's a small spinning circle beside my Wi-Fi symbol. Almost as if it's syncing something. Any idea what's happening?

  • Why is there a circle in the top left-hand corner of my iPhone's screen? Today, I turned my phone off and back on again and when it turned back on, there was a circle in the top left-hand corner of the screen. When I click it, it comes up with the options "Voice Control," "Favorites," "Device," and "Home." What is this? Is is some kind of new update? Is there a way to get rid of it?
  • What is this spinning circle next to the 3G icon on my iphone? And is this why I'm using so much data. I'm visting Seattle been here for 5 days now and that spinning circle keeps spinning. Got a text last night saying I have used 75% of my data and then this morning I got another text saying I have used 90% of my data and I have not been do a whole lot on the internet. But please my main question is what is that spinning circle next to the 3G icon on my iphone.
  • Spinning circle in upper left hand corner of my iphone 4s (pictures)? I have no idea what it is, in the upper right hand corner. Here is a picture It's that circle right beside the where it says bell. It will not go away!
  • Spinning circle by wi-fi & LTE? I have an iPhone and there's this little spinning like asterisk next to it and it doesn't go away. What is it?
