Touch screen unresponsive on iphone 5s, will replacing the screen work?

I had a battery problem in my iPhone 5s to the point where I bought a replacement DIY kit, watching videos before I did it. I bought the kit so I wouldn't have to take it in store and pay much more than I would've just doing it myself.

It was way more difficult than it seemed in the videos and I had a hard time taking off the screen, I was worried I messed up the cables.

After finishing the process, my touchscreen was completely unresponsivene no matter what I did, I restarted it, took the screen off and back on, etc, it still didn't work.
i believe its just the digitizer or one of the cables that are messed up which is why its unresponsive.
Could I just take it to a repair shop and get the screen itself replaced for it to work again? (The same way anyone with a cracked screen would get theirs replaced?)

Change the screen.

It seems to me that the problem would be the digitizer (the actual display under the glass). I would just take your phone into a computer repair shop that repairs phones and have them fix it. Even if you had a warranty, you already voided it by taking the phone apart yourself. The only way Apple would help you is if you paid them for the new digitizer and repairs which would cost you a lot more than a local electronics repair shop.

Yes, replacing a new original screen,
You can buy it at Amazon or HCQS

  • What does it mean if part of an Iphone touch screen is unresponsive? Only the right side of my Iphone isn't responding. I can only get passed the lockcode which is a struggle. (7-6-7-3) 6 and 3 are really hard to press. There's no pixelated or white lines running down it, it looks perfectly normal. So can someone tell me what it is?
  • Unresponsive touch screen iPhone 4s? My old phone is an iPhone 4s, it still turns on and the home and lock button work plus the screen lights up but the touch part is not working to type in the passcode to unlock it. I would love to get some old photos off of it. If anyone can help please do
  • Touch screen unresponsive on iPhone 5? My iPhone 5's touchscreen is not responding at all. I tried to reboot it already and took off screen protectors.might it have water in it because a few drops of water seeped through the waterproof case when i dropped it into the deep end of the pool. Do i need to take it to apple or is it something stupidly simple?
  • Replacing an iPhone touch screen yourself? Has anybody done this - was it easy and did it work ok afterwards? I don't really want to pay £50 to Apple for something I can buy on ebay for a fiver and fit myself!
