Personal preference. Sometimes at the store you can try them out.
IPhone 5 has more stable OS and more apps. But it's screen is abit small. HTC One has a big 4.7 inch screen but it runs Android which is not better than iOS.
Go for HTC one. Or the iPhone 5S.
I will definitely say the HTC One cause its winning on the CellFawn phone of the year voting.
