What ways are available to get unlimited donuts on Simpsons Tapped Out?

I have got The Simpsons Tapped Out on IPhone 5 and I have been trying but failing to get unlimited donuts. I have tried the following:

1. The Springfield Downs; and

2. Plant a tree.

I will not entertain jail breaking my device so that method I have to say is out. What other methods are available and is there a reason why the 2 methods I'm using do not work? Is there a setting that I need in place before they will work?

I'm desperate so I can then get and have all I want in my Springfield.

Added (1). The tip from Ash below = DID NOT WORK

Ok click buy on the selected donuts then enter password and continue with the new update this works it then asks you if you are sure a second time press NO the SECOND time it's says are you sure it will then take you back to your town and the donuts will be there FREE I work on the game here at EA know one knows this yet so hurry as it will be fixed soon and remember the second time this will work 100%

  • Simpsons Tapped Out Signing in issues I have been played Tapped out on my Iphone for months now with no problems. However I just got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and downloaded the game so I can play on my tablet instead. When i try to play on my tablet it tries to make me start the game right from the beginning instead of giving me the option to sign in with an existing account. Does anyone know how i can just sign in?
  • Simpsons Tapped Out River? I'm playing The Simpsons Tapped Out couple days. And now my river is turned green. Why? Can i change back to normal? I have an iphone.
  • Simpsons tapped out not loading? Is anyone else having this problem? I have an iPhone 5 and after I downloaded the valentines update I was able to do the first two quests then I tried playing again later and after I tapped to continue the donut would just stop. I left it there for a good five minutes just to see if it was the server but my friend has an iPhone 4S and he was able to play. I also tried deleting and reinstalling the app. That didn't work either. After a full reboot also nothing.
