Where did my iPhone notes go?

I think it may be time for a new phone soon since mine keeps acting up recently, but until I have the $$ to purchase one, I'm stuck with this one.
I opened my phone and found a whole bunch of recently created notes gone, and I remembered I had noticed them showing up in my email account again recently so I checked there first and couldn't find the copies. I checked my phone and all the notes *left* in my phone were "on my iPhone" and not in the 2 folders that would lead to my email, so I assume that a couple weeks ago… Or was it last week… When my phone crashed that it added the folders back to my notes section on my phone and from there I found those folders empty (on my phone) and deleted them so that when I write a note it is only written on my phone.
I went into my computer's Outlook program to check my email (as well as trying online) but all my recent notes were mysteriously gone from both there and my phone. Like my email backed them up off my phone and then decided to delete them anyway. I had looked in my notes (on the phone) today and found 4+ missing, was able to find them in the email account, but then they disappeared right in front of me OUT of the email folder.
My issue is that at least 2 of those were really long and important… How do I find them to recover them without "recovering" my iPhone and losing data that is still saved there? I have a macbook if that helps.

Your notes are also backed up to whatever email account you have them sinked with. If you erase the email that the note created, you will erase the note. I found that out the hard way. Hope that helped.

If you want to recover your lost notes on your iPhone, view this video and you could have get the choice.

When's the last time you've synced with iTunes? Copies of the notes should be there if recent enough. Also do you use iCloud backup/storage? Look in your settings on the phone for iCloud and see if you have turned on the Notes for backup. Your iCloud backup is probably newer than iTunes and you can restore from there. If the notes copies aren't already in your iTunes for you to resync, then you will unfortunately have it restore using iCloud. Best luck.

I had the same problem too.

  • Why does my iPhone notes app.delete some notes? Some have been there for over a year others just disappear after a few days. I have not (to my knowledge) done anything differently.
  • Why did some of my recent notes disappear? About 3 or 4 of my most recent notes have completely disappeared from my iPhone. In settings notes in iCloud are turned off. It's really freaking me
  • Why did my iphone delete all of my notes? Saying that i'm pissed off is an understatement. I want to smash the fcking thing! I had passwords and other important things saved in my notes! Why did it just get rid of everything! Can i get it back? I tried turning it off then back on hoping it was just being stupid because sometimes it does that but it comes back after i turn it off then back on.
  • My iPhone says that my Notes is taking up 1.79 GB of storage. I only have 3 notes, and there isn't a lot of text in them. How do I fix this? Recently there were a lot of notes on my phone, but I deleted most of them until there were only three notes left. However, my phone still says my Notes takes up 1.79 GB. I tried writing a really lengthy note to see if the GB would go higher, but it didn't change. I don't want to delete my three remaining notes, which have very little text in them. I doubt that these notes are taking up 1.79 GB. What is the problem here, and how do I fix it?
