Which is better for my next computer? Mac or PC?

I have always used PC for my computers. I currently have a Toshiba laptop and a Gateway desktop. I recently started looking into getting an iMac. I would just like some feedback/input on whether this would be a good move. I'll admit I don't make videos or music or anything like that. I'm currently in school for mechanical engineering. I will probably have to use computer programs like CAD eventually. Right now I use my computers for school (writing papers, etc). I also use them for browser based games, sometimes other games, Facebook, YouTube, email, etc. I have an iPhone and an iPod and I absolutely love apple products. The thing I worry about with getting a Mac is if I will have compatibility issues when trying to write papers or play games. Any feedback is appreciated!

An iMac is a PC. You can write papers with it, play games with it and use CAD software.

There will be no compatibility problems. It will be serve you well and last for years.

PC means personal computer. What is you budget? Would you sacrifice a little convinience to get something more time proof and powerful/better? If yes then a Win computer if no then a mac

Too many of the OSX versus Windows questions are asked.
Will keep it incredibly simple.
Mac OSX is for simple people who buy on emotion. There's a limited application set. Some is included free. The hardware is overpriced by a lot. Apple leaves out key specifications because the buyers don't understand specifications anyway. People compare expensive Apple systems to cheap junk Windows systems and say that Mac is better. Cross gaming off your list unless also getting Windows in the system. You can write papers and do internet access. Internet based games play, if the graphics and CPU are strong enough.

Windows is more complex. More applications. More freeware. "Computer programs like CAD", well, find OSX CAD if it exists, or add Windows also to the Apple products. Logical people who analyze cost and understand computers and hardware don't take Mac seriously.

Mac owners only praise Mac. They spent a lot and 1st two years they are good. All reliability studies show them average after that. If you have low intelligence and ruled by emotions, buy a Mac, and if it is a MacBook, get one of those laptop skins that use the glowing Apple.
