Why can't I download apps on my iPhone 3G?

Well my iPhone is the 3rd version 4.2.1
And I can't download apps and everytime I TRY it says I need iOs5…

I have watched videos on YouTube, but nothing has worked!

Is there anything else I can do?

Many apps do not support old OSs, so I guess you can't download them.

I forgot to say that your iphone may have lagging problems because the phone has not be designed for heavier ios and this is the reason why apple stopped the updates for the phone.

IOS 4.2.1 is the highest operating system that the iPhone 3G is able to support. Most apps are designed to run off the lowest probably being ios 5 at the moment and more than likely most are designed for 6 and 7, Unfortunately you can't upgrade under nomal means technically there's a way to force a higher version onto your device, but it is not really worth it as the hardware inside your device would not be able to handle it (i.e. Low RAM and processing power)

Now days, majority of apps no longer support older iOS.

See if your iPhone3G needs software update?

Although keep in mind this may still not work depending on individual app iOS requirement.

I suggest visit apple store/call apple care if you need more technical help.

Otherwise it's time for a new iPhone…
