WHY Do I look ok in the mirror but uglier on iPhone camera?
WHY Do I look ok in the mirror but uglier on iPhone camera?
Mainly because the iphone has a wide angle lens so it distorts the face. Also, unless you've got a lot of light the camera won't take a decent photo.
It's to do with the focal point.
Like cheap pharmacies that do ID photos for you, they make the picture look terrible by having the camera too close.
It always looks better to have the camera slightly further away and use a little zoom.
Similar principle in the difference between mirror view and "selfie" view
I've actually heard of this phsycology answer to this. You like yourself better in the mirror because thats what you usally see except unlike a camera you see yourself mirrored or flipped. Its kinda loke recorsing yourself listening to it and not sounding how you think you sound
1. You're used to seeing yourself in a mirror which means you are accustomed to seeing your features flipped around (mirror image).
2. Holding a camera at arms length to take a selfie, the camera is to close which gives you perspective distortion. Ever see pictures of dogs with a camera a few inches from their nose? That's what you're trying to do with a selfie - make dog-face pictures.
3. When looking in a mirror, your brain corrects for bad lighting. A camera doesn't correct for bad lighting. You need to find a place that has pleasant lighting, like window lighting or late afternoon lighting.
- Why does my face look longer in my iphone camera than in the mirror? I know that the mirror is a flip of what I "really" look like, but why does my iphone camera make my face look long? Whenever I ask people what face shape I have, they usually say round. Buy when I look at myself on my iphone I see an ugly oval. Help! Here are some pictures of me: iice.tumblr.com/tagged/me
- Why do I look ugly in my camera, but not in the mirror? Whenever I look into my iPhone camera I look extremely pale, my zits look extremely red, and my eyes just appear "brown" but when I look into the mirror I look a little tan, and my zits look very small and not that big of a deal, and my eyes appear more greenish and hazel. And no there's no lighting of the room when I'm looking into the mirror it's just natural light. Is it just the camera that makes me look ugly? Or is my mirror wrong and my Cameras right? :/
- Why do I look uglier in my iPhone camera? I swear, I'm like 10x hotter when looking in a mirror. I've looked in multiple mirrors, rest assured.
- Why do I look so fat in iPhone pictures but good in the mirror? So I've been on a health kick lately and I looked in the mirror today and I thought I looked okay. I was actually happy with my body for once. Later I took a full length pic with my iPhone 5 and I couldn't believe how fat I looked… Omfg I'm so depressed now. I feel like all my hard work eating healthy and exercising was for nothing. Why did I look so fat in my pictures but good in the mirror? Which is more accurate? Ughh
