Why does my iPhone 5 battery drain so much

My iPhone 5's battery battery goes down 20% in like 2 minutes just from web surfing without Wi-Fi. When I have Wi-Fi enabled it goes down 30% - 40% in like 2 minutes. Other times, I leave my iPhone on standby when I'm a school with 100% and then after school my iPhone has about 30% - 40% battery. When I play a game, it goes from 100% to 50% within 3 minutes or so. Is this how the iPhone 5's battery supposed to be! I'm on iOS 6.1.2 do it's not even up to date like iOS 7.0.2…
