Why doesn't my iphone work without Wi-Fi?

I'm not sure if I pressed something but at the top left corner of my iPhone 5c it says no service by the Wi-Fi logo and when I'm not at home I can't send texts or do anything on my phone. How do I fix it

You need Wi-Fi thats why

Settings > Cellular >
Make sure this is on. If it is, switch if off, restart the phone, then turn back on. If that doesn't resolve it, then it's a carrier issue and you need to take it to them for a fix. Best luck.

Even when I try to send pictures as a normal text to people with iphones, I still can't send it. I have unlimited texting, and my settings say MMS is on. She works, and do simple tasks like set an alarm, set a timer, or send a text, But when i ask her to search for places near me her answer is always sorry i can't find games for such and such. Her answers are almost always irrelevant to my question. There was an option to buy Siri for 99 cents that uses google, and seems more legit than the free downloaded.
