Why is my toshiba laptop beeping when I start it?

Whenever I turn my toshiba satellite laptop on it beeps. They are short quick beeps like 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. It stops after about a minute. My laptop seems perfectly fine except for the fact the spacebar isn't working (I'm typing with my iPhone). I tryed cleaning underneath the spacebar but that made it beep longer. What does the beeping mean? And why doesn't my spacebar work?

Added (1). It is an A505 model. Tryed popping the key out and cleaning under it. It does the same thing. I don't know what else to do.

Your space bar is stuck.

1
Turn off your laptop and remove the battery.

2
Clean the area around the affected key. Use a damp cloth to clean the surface of the key (and surrounding keys) and then use a dry cotton swab to clean under the stuck key. Be careful not to pry the stuck key up with the cotton swab, as this could break the stuck key.

3
Press firmly on the stuck key. Sometimes after dust or particulates are removed, the stuck key will pop back into place.

4
Pull out the fingernail cleaner extension of your fingernail clippers. This is the flat extension with a little hook on the end. Place the small hook under the left corner of the stuck key. A common reason that keys get stuck is that the collapsible spring becomes off-center. Gently push the key from side to side until it clicks into place. If this does not happen, you will need to disassemble the key completely.

5
Lift the top part of the key with the fingernail cleaner. You will see a collapsible plastic hinge (this is known as the Key Retainer) as well as a little rubber piece. Take both of these out. You will see a flat surface. Run the cotton swab across this surface to remove any dust.

6
Place the key components back in the keyboard. Place the rubber part on top of the metal circle you just cleaned with the cotton swab. Then place the key retainer (large side down) on top of it, and "click" it into place. It is very important to be careful with this step, as these small parts break easily. Then place the stuck key on top of these parts and then give it a solid tap to click it into place. Your key should hopefully work now.

Best of luck!

Spacer bar is stuck or the key board has gone bad. Post the model number and installed operating system version when asking a question as well as brand.

  • Wi-Fi not working on Toshiba laptop? My Wi-Fi (router by Netgear) is not working on my laptop (Toshiba). I got my laptop about a year ago & it doesn't have a switch. But the Wi-Fi is working on my Kindle Fire & my iPhone. This has happened many times this year. I've tried restarting the router & laptop many times.
  • What language should I start with to start developing iOS apps? If I want to develop iPhone apps, should I learn Python first or just go straight to objective C or learn something else? I have 0 programming skills and have only done some web development. I have a Mac and Xcode.
  • My new iPhone 5 keeps randomly beeping and vibrating? I got a new iPhone 5 for Christmas and it was working perfectly fine for a few days. But then it started acting up. I usually have my phone in my back pocket and then one day it just randomly beeped and vibrated and I thought it was a text but it wasn't. It wasn't even a notification. So I have no idea what is going on or what is wrong with it.
  • My iPhone 4 started randomly making beeping noises? I just was sitting in the car and my mom said, "What's that beeping noise?" I listened closely and couldn't make it out. Later we heard it and I put my ear up to my only working speaker. I heard it beeping. I saw the silent button the side of my phone was pulled to the left so you could see the orange mark. I pulled it forward and I thought I still could hear it… Help!
