Why isn't my iMessage working on my iPhone 4?

IMessage hasn't been working on my ipad recently but I was able to delete some long messages, reboot my ipad and it worked

You sure iMessage is turned on in settings?

Is it turned on AND set with your number to check go to
-settings
-messages (see if its turned on the top on/off switch)
-send and receive ( see if your number is on there ) and that's all I know hope it helped. Also you must have a data plan and have service or be connected to Wi-Fi

  • Why isn't my iMessage working on my iPhone 5? It's fully updated as far as iOS goes. I was on my run today and literally it just stopped working out of nowhere. Looked online for troubleshooting but Apple doesn't help AND I don't wanna screw my phone up any worse (whatever is going on) by doing something to activate iMessage again. Anybody have a proven trick that may help me get this back on track? Much appreciated!
